Bill Jacobs shares information about boater certificates. New York State has enacted a law in 2020 that will require all operators of motorized boats or personal watercraft (PWCs) to obtain a Safe Boating Certificate. The law will be phased in over a period of six years, with full implementation by January 1, 2025. This new regulation is designed to improve safety on New York waterways. Currently, anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 is required to obtain the certificate.
