WIDE Fun Run Draws More Than 900 Participants
Posted on Apr 14th, 2010

The weekend activities included basketball, wrestling, volleyball, yoga, and more. The 5K drew more than 900 runners, largely due to the mild, sunny weather and the community's desire to support substance abuse education programs in the schools, which race proceeds fund. Suffolk County Police were on hand to keep the runners safe and close streets, while radio station WBAB set up in the school parking lot to provide music. Participants received T-shirts with sponsor's names on the back, and WITA (West Islip Teachers Association) and the Council of PTAs provided refreshments.
