La Grange To Reopen This Spring As Catering Hall
Posted on Mar 3rd, 2010

A letter sent in February to personnel with the West Islip School District from Scott Di Donna, of one three partners involved in reopening La Grange, indicated that the facility would open as a full service catering hall. The letter, a copy of which was obtained by WestIslipTribune.com, indicated that Di Donna's two partners are Dennis Garren and David Rousso.

WestIslipTribune spoke briefly with Di Donna last week, but was unable to obtain specific information regarding future plans for La Grange at press time.

According to a press release from the West Islip Association (WIA), La Grange will reopen in either April or May and the original design of La Grange will remain intact. The WIA was formed in the spring of 2008 initially as the La Grange Task Force with the goal of finding alternative uses for the property.

In was March 2008 when a community hearing held at La Grange to unveil plans to remodel the catering facility and construct a Walgreens drug store on the property was met with near unanimous opposition by several hundred West Islip residents. While those plans did not come to fruition, the catering hall has sat largely idle over the past 24 months.
